Jill Salkin
For the past six years, Jill Salkin has been entertaining in many senior residences in the tri-state area. Her lovely voice, warm personality, and engaging patter bring a lot of enjoyment to her audiences. Jill has received many accolades about her repertoire, which includes songs from the Great American Songbook, pop from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, Broadway, and movie themes.
Before Jill became a performer in senior entertainment, she sang in clubs in Philadelphia, New York City, and Wilmington. She moved to Atlantic City in the 80s to sing in casino lounges, and also performed with headliners, singing background vocals.
Jill has recorded three CDs and has gotten airplay on radio
stations in the U.S. and on the Internet. She can also be heard on Pandora
Radio. Jill is a songwriter and has included her original music on her CDs. She
continues to do concerts and perform in a variety of venues.
In addition to being a musician, Jill holds a Master’s
degree in Education, and she taught in the School District of Philadelphia.
In
addition to her shows of mixed genres, Jill has performed two hour-long
specialty shows. One comprises the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and
Lena Horne, and includes fascinating information about their lives. The other
show features songs by George and
Ira Gershwin, Rogers and Hart, and Cole Porter, and includes some history of the composers’ lives and the origin of their songs.
Jill at Jamey's House of Music
Jill performs as a solo artist accompanied by karaoke tracks, as a trio with a pianist and a bassist or as a quartet by adding a drummer. So her artistry can fit almost any budget.
